Ballerinas at The Broadmoor
Updated: May 30, 2018
Over the weekend I had the pleasure of second-shooting for two very talented photographers. On the first night, the photographer asked me, “what would your dream wedding look like?” I paused for a second, and didn’t know how to answer. I guess I hadn’t thought about it much.
It wasn’t until the following day when I arrived at The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs that I realized, this was it.
Now I will say, I expected a lot. But only because the bride is one of Colorado's absolute best wedding planners. From the flowers to the professional ballerinas, the day was nothing short of magical! There was not a single minute of the day that I didn't find myself teary-eyed. Even when they were getting ready, and in completely separate parts of the hotel, I still felt the deep love and passion that these two have for each other.
Melanie and Adam met on Match(.com), and it was love from first message! Adam even surprised her with a picture frame displaying the first messages they exchanged when they met via-internet.
I know, I know - cue the tears!
I felt so blessed to be present for all of these special moments that happened throughout the day. The bride hired young ballerina's to walk down the aisle, in place of flower girls, and her nearly five-pound bouquet was absolutely stunning.
By the time the ceremony started, I was overwhelmed with emotion. Which only escalated when I saw the grooms reaction as she walked down the aisle.
Luckily, I kept it together to capture these moments.
This, THIS type of love is why I do what I do!
The rest of day went off without a hitch - expectedly. Cocktail hour was the perfect mixture of simple and elegant. The details of the reception were unlike anything I had seen before. The details were so incredible: she had customized cookies for name plates, four cakes each different in flavor. The florals, both large and small, had the perfect ratio of greenery to flowers; they were, in my opinion, what really tied the room together.
Even the Royal Wedding couldn't compete.
During the five-course meal there was a professional ballet performance, which had their guests amazed! Adam then surprised his new wife with a performance of his own, where he sang the beautiful Can't Help Falling In Love, with his guitar in hand.
The speeches, the decor, the dress(es), the tiniest of details made this a once in a lifetime event. I am convinced I will never see another wedding like this one!
I feel so honored to have been asked to help capture these special moments of the most important day of their lives. A huge thank you to my lead, Katie Jeter, for asking me to join her for this magical day.
I wish Melanie and Adam nothing but a lifetime of love and happiness-I know that won't be hard!
